On May 27, 2010, outside a White House Jewish heritage event, Thomas stated that Israel "should get the hell out of Palestine" and that Palestine is a country of occupation, whose occupiers should leave the region, returning to "Poland, Germany and America and everywhere else".[9] Thomas subsequently issued a statement of regret on her personal web site.[9][10]
